Discovering Bergamo on the notes of Donizetti. A journey through space and time.

Exceptional opening and guided tour of the Donizetti Theater. The area where the theater stands was presented to the traveler of the time as a collection of wooden shacks in which merchants displayed their wares. In that place of great wealth stood a number of temporary wooden theaters, which were demolished at the end of the season and rebuilt the following season with the same specially preserved material.

In 1897, on the centenary of Gaetano Donizetti's birth, the building took on its present appearance, a majestic structure with one of the largest halls in Italy and was named after the famous composer.  "Following" the Maestro's notes, accompanied by the guide's narration, effortlessly aboard an electric TukTuk, you will travel through the streets and places of the city that were the stage of Donizetti's life: from the Theater dedicated to him in the Lower Town, to his birthplace in the medieval Borgo Canale to the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore where he is buried and celebrated by the romantic marble sculpture.

12:00 Exploration of an ancient private tower house in the Upper Town, in the historic center of Bergamo.

The tour will start from the entrance of the tower house on the ground floor and go up the stairs of the sundial tower, thus gradually discovering the evolution of the building over the centuries, but also of the city of Bergamo itself. Then you will enter the top two floors furnished with furniture and furnishings from the various eras that characterized the lives of those who lived there. You will thus arrive at the top of the tower but be careful... without a lift. You will feel like you are reliving the times that once were firsthand, surrounded by family objects and heirlooms, an experience that will make you love our beautiful city and its most secret peculiarities even more. Finally, from the windows on the top floor, you will enjoy the view that sweeps over the roofs, the Lower Town below and the profile of the Orobic Prealps.
